Trick 1: Dot Insensitivity
Gmail ignores all periods in usernames. Every possible dot permutation of your address routes to your inbox. A username with N characters has 2^(N-1) valid dot variations.

Append +anytag after your username. Gmail strips the tag before delivery. The tag stays visible in the "To" header, making filter creation easy.

Every Gmail account also accepts mail at the corresponding @googlemail.com address. This domain was created as a result of trademark disputes in the UK and Germany (2005–2010). The two domains are permanently linked.
